Is TradeStream really free?
Yes — all live sessions are 100% free to watch. You can jump into any stream, ask questions in chat, and learn in real time without paying a cent. Pro ($9.99/mo) unlocks the full replay library, learning paths, and priority chat.
What trades are available?
We currently cover electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and truck driving (CDL). More trades are coming soon based on community demand.
What is a Shadow Day?
A Shadow Day is a full-day, in-person experience where you follow a licensed tradesperson through a real workday. You'll see actual jobs, ask questions on-site, and get hands-on exposure. Shadow Days cost $500 and can be booked directly through the platform.
How do instructors earn money?
Instructors keep 70% of all revenue — that includes tips, Pro subscription revenue share, and Shadow Day bookings ($350 per day). There are no upfront costs or platform fees to start streaming.
Do I need experience to watch?
Not at all. Sessions are tagged by difficulty (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) so you can start from zero. Many of our viewers have no trade experience and are exploring careers.
Can I watch replays of past sessions?
Free users get a 48-hour replay window after each live session. Pro subscribers ($9.99/mo or $89.99/year) get unlimited access to the full replay library across all trades.
How do I become an instructor?
Click "Apply as Instructor" and fill out a short application. We verify your trade license and experience, then you can start streaming within days. All you need is a phone or camera.
Is this a replacement for trade school or an apprenticeship?
No — TradeStream is a supplement, not a replacement. We help you explore trades before committing, build foundational knowledge, and connect with working professionals. For licensing and certification, you'll still need formal training and on-the-job hours.
